Reynella coach Josh Vick ends his reign as Wineflies’ mentor due to work commitments
Reynella is searching for a new coach as mentor Josh Vick finished after last Sunday’s elimination final loss because of a new job.
Outgoing Reynella coach Josh Vick says he has loved his time at the club and hopes it can push up the Southern Football League ladder quickly.
Vick, 36, quit his post at the Wineflies after being appointed as principal at Warradale Park Primary School.
His last game in the Reynella coaching box was in the elimination final last Sunday where his team lost to Port Noarlunga.
Vick said he was grateful to Reynella for his coaching experience.
“Hopefully I have left the club in a good position,’’ Vick, a former South Adelaide, Cove and Goolwa player, said.
“I have loved it and especially watching the young players coming through.
“Having that link with Woodcroft (Primary) as a deputy where a lot of the Reynella juniors went to school was good fun.
“Coaching has had its challenges but I have no regrets and wish the club the best going forward.
“Professionally it’s time for me to put my energies into this new position (started at the beginning of the term).
“For a time it’s going to be non-footy time.’’
Reynella president Dave Denyer said Vick’s efforts at the club since being appointed in 2017 had been outstanding.
“Everyone just looks up to him,’’ Denyer said.
“When previous coach Gianni Petrucci was appointed Sturt Reserves coach we had to move quickly and then appointed Josh late in the year.
“He was brilliant.
“He brought his whole family into the club and had a real bond with the players and the younger ones.
“He brought a lot of different ideas to the club.’’
Last Sunday Reynella’s hopes of extending Vick’s coaching fell short when it lot to Port, 14.8 (92) to 8.5 (53).
