The stage is set for the 2020 Hills Football League finals following the last minor round which was played at the weekend.
Minor premier and pacesetter Hahndorf has this week off but Lobethal, Onkaparinga Valley, Mt Barker and Blackwood are preparing for battle.
Although second-ranked Lobethal was set to hold its place no matter the result of the final minor round, it went down by a point to Nairne Bremer at home on Saturday.
The match was tight for much of the day as the Tigers held a seven-point lead at half-time, then took a four-point advantage into the final change before being pipped.
Player/coach Matt Fuller was not impressed with his side’s approach to the game.
“It looked like they were thinking more about the following week rather than worrying about the game in front of them,” Fuller said.
“There wasn’t much on the end of it as we couldn’t lose our position (on the ladder).
“But it was still disappointing.
“The club hasn’t had much success in recent years, only winning a handful of games so they will be looking forward to next week.”
Fuller expected several key players to miss this weekend’s qualifying finals with soft tissue injuries but hoped his side would be able to bounce back from the loss to Nairne.
Fuller led the team on the ground against the Rams with four goals.
Jake Auricht and Jack Osborn (three goals) were solid.
Best for Nairne included Tom Bedding, Nicholas Jaensch and Elijah Rupcic. Darcy Hourigan kicked four goals.
Blackwood made sure of its place in the major round when it accounted for Mt Barker 17.8 (110) to 10.8 (68) away on Saturday.
Ben Macreadie (three goals), Rhys Sporn (four majors) and Daniel Benson played well.
Joel Aish was also strong up-forward for the Woods, booting five goals.
Damian Hynes (four goals), Henry Bruce and Connor O’Riordan battled hard for the Barkeroos.
Blackwood and Mt Barker will lock horns again this Sunday in an elimination final at Heathfield.
In other games, Onkaparinga Valley was far too strong for Mt Lofty, cruising to a 15.15 (105) to 4.5 (29) victory.
Tom Mayo was the standout for the Bulldogs with seven goals.
Top side Hahndorf showed no mercy to bottom team Echunga with a crushing triumph away.
The reigning premier prevailed 31.26 (212) to 5.5 (35).
Dylan Matsen, Sam Hayden, Kyle Cheney, Cooper Nykamp (six goals) and Jarryn Male (five majors) all featured for the Magpies.
Haydn Pocock, Tate Giadescro and Liam Place were solid for the Demons.
