JOSH Glenn has returned to Central District – and is not ruling out having another crack at the AFL.
The skilful midfielder/half-back flanker last played for the Bulldogs in 2014 before being rookie-listed by Gold Coast.
But he quit the Suns 12 months ago after five games, citing homesickness, and moved back to Adelaide.
After kicking 30 goals in 13 matches for Barossa, Light and Gawler Football Association club Willaston this past season, Glenn rejoined the Bulldogs to test himself at a higher level.
He is focusing on next season with Central but is not closing the door on the AFL if another opportunity arose.
“I was getting brought down to the Barossa league level and I didn’t want that,” Glenn, 22, says.
“I wanted to play at a higher level.
“I watched the (SANFL) finals series and watched Centrals get beaten by the Crows, and it just gave me the urge to come back, help the boys again and try to win a flag.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll just stick at Centrals for now but if any (AFL) opportunity comes up ... I’ll have to think about it.”
Glenn says playing in the Barossa this year was much more enjoyable than elite ranks.
“You don’t really feel the pressure of all the game plans with the AFL – you just have a kick of the footy and try to win.
“It helped me mentally.”
Glenn has also enjoyed living back at home with his family at Elizabeth Grove and spending time with friends.
“(At Gold Coast) I was trapped in a state where I was sitting at home doing nothing and had no one really around me.
“I thought coming home was the best option and it’s been great.
“I definitely haven’t regretted that decision.”
Glenn believes he is stronger after his AFL experience.
“Back then (in 2014 at Central District), I was a bit scared to speak up and wasn’t as confident. I think I can be an elite on-baller in the competition hopefully.”
