A young gun netballer from the South East has shown huge potential throughout season 2023 and now has the chance to win a major award.

15-year-old Chloe Peacock – who attends Grant High School and represents the Kalangadoo Netball Club – has been nominated in the individual secondary section of The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and Department for Education School Sports Awards 2023.

Peacock said she was thrilled to be nominated.

“I’m very grateful to be nominated,” she said.

“I would be really honoured to win the award.”

Peacock has been playing competitive club netball for eight years at Kalangadoo and has made great strides in her game in recent seasons.

A star midcourter who can play a number of roles, the teenager won two premierships at U15s and A Grade level for the Magpies this year.

She also represented South Australia in the U15 School Girls Netball Tournament in Perth and was selected in the All-Australian Merit team for her standout performances.

“I love playing netball at all levels and I enjoy the friendship opportunities and the challenges it brings me every time I step out onto the court,” Peacock said.

“I also embrace the opportunity to constantly grow as a player and person.”

While Peacock has been focused on her short term future in the South East, she now has her sights set on playing against Adelaide’s best.

“My goal is to move to Adelaide one day and play in the Premier League.”

The School Sports Awards are the joint initiative of The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and Department for Education.

There are three major awards in 2023 – individual competitors, individual student officials, and teams, with female and male, and primary and secondary categories all included.

Enrolled primary or secondary students between the ages of 10-18 are eligible.

Nominate here by Sunday, November 5.
