FOUR amateur football clubs will need to register 50 players before the end of next week or else they will not be accepted into the league.
Kilburn, Mitchell Park, Flinders University and Salisbury West have struggled for players over the past 12 months, leading the league to impose strict conditions on them for the coming season.
The clubs will need to register at least 50 players before February 15 and field two teams – the latter being a requirement across the entire competition.
Last year Kilburn, Mitchell Park and Flinders University had just one team.
Amateur league chief executive John Kernahan said he did not want any clubs to fall over because they played a significant role in the community.
He said the four clubs would lose their league affiliation if they did not comply.
“All clubs play a significant role in providing a platform for young people to be involved in the community,” Kernahan said.
“They have to have those players registered.
“Last year we took it on face value but this year they have to provide tangible evidence that they have got those players.”
Flinders University coach Bharat Roocke said his club was not confident it would register enough players in time.
“Committee members are going to be doing a ring around very shortly but at the moment I’m not 100 per cent,” Roocke said.
