Pierce Seymour credits Adelaide’s state league coach Heath Younie for helping elevate him from state-league top-up to fully-fledged SANFL player.
Seymour featured in eight league matches under Younie in Adelaide’s successful SANFL outfit this past season, including the qualifying, semi and preliminary finals.
Those performances for the Crows helped secure Seymour a spot on Woodville-West Torrens’ list for the 2020 SANFL season after the Eagles signed him this month.

“I am really excited (to sign with the Eagles) and it was really humbling to hear they wanted me to come along and play for them,” Seymour, 24, says.
“I am really lucky I had an opportunity to play at a SANFL level this year and I really enjoyed my experience.
“I think us top-up guys who had the opportunity to play, we trained really hard and the coaches made us feel part of the team.
“That’s a massive credit to Health Younie who took back over the SANFL team this year.
“He was really passionate about making sure our trainings with the top-up squad were real high-intensity and that we really worked hard on our craft to make sure we could be trusted by those AFL-listed boys when we stepped into the team.”
The Payneham Norwood Union product had a whirlwind back half of the year.
He made his SANFL debut with the Crows in their clash with Port Adelaide in Port Pirie on July 13 and played every game thereafter, including the Crows’ preliminary final loss to Glenelg.
He then went back to the Adelaide Footy League and helped the Falcons claim the division one flag.
Seymour, of Magill, said going between both the Crows and PNU teams was tough at times but playing in a winning grand final for the Falcons was a memory he would never forget.
He says the Eagles pre-season is going well so far under new coach Jade Sheedy and believes the side can return to SANFL finals action in 2020.
“Jade has come in and he’s got a really good mindset, a really good game plan and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.
“I’ll hopefully be able to use my kicking skills out of defence and my marking skills to be an attacking player from the back-half who generates play from defence.”
