Adelaide Footy League Division Three top 40 players of 2024 ranked

Division Three of the Adelaide Footy League is packed with star talent so we’ve ranked the top 40 players for season 2024. See who made the cut.

Division three of the Adelaide Footy League has long been packed with standout local SA talent and season 2024 has been no exception.

Based on this season’s form and with the help of league insiders, we’ve ranked the division’s top 40 players of the year.

Players with less than eight appearances were ruled ineligible.

Here are our rankings from no. 40 to 1.

40. LUCAS HARNEY

(Hope Valley)

An important defender for Hope Valley, full-back Harney has been one of his side’s best this year.

Competes well with some of the competition’s best forwards, often making strong spoils and taking important marks.

Has eight best player nods in 15 games.

39. ADAM ZENI

(Pembroke OS)

A strong player on the ball with a strong work rate, Zeni has been important for the Kings again this year.

Wins plenty of his own footy in the contest and damages opposition with his distribution around the ground.

Has seven best player mentions and three goals in 16 games.

38. JACK PILLION

(Henley)

One of Henley’s most impactful players in recent years, Pillion has put another strong season together.

Pillion remains an important and skilled presence in his side’s midfield, winning plenty of the footy and finding teammates efficiently.

Has four best player nods and seven goals in 15 games.

37. CALLUM HAY

(North Haven)

A strong and consistent player around the ground for the Magpies.

The former Port Adelaide rookie hits the contest hard to win the footy for his side and has a damaging boot.

Has four best player nods in 11 games.

36. AARON MARCHIORO

(CBC OC)

An important part of CBC OC’s line-up Marchioro has produced a strong year across the forwardline and through the contest.

A hardworking player who attacks the footy relentlessly, takes multiple strong grabs a game and creates for his teammates or boots majors for himself.

Has 16 goals and five best player nods in 10 games.

35. OLIVER HARMS

(Pembroke OS)

A star defender for Pembroke OS, Harms remains one of his side’s top players.

Can stand on almost any forward in the competition and perform at a high level with his marking ability and relentless approach.

Has seven best player nods and a goal in 15 games.

34. ETHAN MILLER

(Unley)

The former Henley player has continued to develop at Unley and has become one of the top players for the Jets this year.

A hard worker around the ground who wins plenty of the ball and finds teammates at a high efficiency.

Has six goals and eight best player nods in 16 games.

33. NICK AZZOLLINI

(North Haven)

A standout small defender for North Haven, Azzolini can also had an impact through the middle.

Is capable of locking down almost any small forward with his ability to compare in the air and at ground level and deal to teammates while under pressure.

Has six best player nods and three goals in 11 games.

32. LINDSAY THOMAS

(North Haven)

The former North Melbourne and Port Adelaide star has been a big boost for North Haven this season.

An electric forward who can also do damage on the ball, Thomas boasts brilliant skills and feel for the game.

Has 18 majors and four best player nods in 10 games.

31. MATT MIN

(Hope Valley)

Hope Valley’s playing-coach, Min has been at the top of his game in season 2023.

A skilled forward who can take strong grabs and finish in front of goal or set up his teammates.

Min has formed a formidable duo with Daniel Nobes and has kicked 42 majors in his 13 games this year.

30. CHARLIE MORGAN

(Scotch OC)

A consistently damaging player for Scotch OC, Morgan has been a standout again this year.

Morgan competes relentlessly in the air and at ground level contests to win the footy for his side and is a reliable distributor.

Has 10 best player nods in 12 games.

29. AARON RAINEY

(Lockleys)

One of the top defenders in the division, Rainey has been impressive for Lockleys yet again.

A key part of the Demons line-up, Rainey can lock down any forward in the competition, battling well in the air and at ground level and picking off a number of attacks to start rebounds for his side.

Has four best player performances in 14 games.

28. ALEX FORSTER

(Pembroke OS)

Former Norwood and Fremantle forward Forster has been a star of the Adelaide Footy League in recent years and continues to have a big impact up front for the Kings.

Forster is a creative player who can beat defenders through smart leads or take big marks while also linking his midfielders and forwards with accurate disposal.

Has 42 goals and three best player performances in 14 games so far.

27. WILL RIDDLE

(Hope Valley)

A consistent star for Hope Valley, Riddle’s work in the ruck and around the ground makes him a standout.

A clever player who gives his mids first use, Riddle is a strong runner who loves to attack the footy relentlessly in the contest.

Has four best player nods in his nine games this year.

26. CAMERON BUCHANAN

(Seaton Ramblers)

A consistent player on the ball for Ramblers, Buchanan has been a standout for his side this year.

Always finds plenty of the footy in the contest and deals to teammates efficiently under pressure.

Has six best player nods in eight games this year.

25. DARCY GINEVER

(SMOSH West Lakes)

2024 has been one of the most challenging yet for SMOSH West Lakes results wise but Ginever has remained among the division’s best.

Skilled by hand with a damaging boot, Ginever can cut off a number of attacks and provide important run and carry for his side along the flanks and through the middle.

Has five best player performances in eight games.

24. JACK ENRIGHT

(Henley)

A longtime star for the Sharks, Enright has been a standout yet again this season.

Can perform a number of roles for his side, finds the footy consistently and damages opposition with his disposal.

Has eight best player mentions and three goals in 16 games.

23. SAM STARR

(Unley)

Starr has had another strong year as he continues to improve for the Jets.

A smooth mover through the contest who uses the footy as anyone for his side.

Has nine best player nods and two goals in 14 games.

22. BRETT SIMPSON

(CBC OC)

A star leader for CBC OC, Simpson has been a weapon for the Dolphins despite the challenging year for the club on the ladder.

Simpson is an agile and strong player up front who has no issue winning the footy in the air or at ground level to set-up teammates or boot goals himself.

Has 30 majors and two best player performances in 16 games.

21. JACK GREEN

(Pembroke OS)

Green has starred as Pembroke OS captain again this season.

A standout through the contest for the Kings, Green sets an example for the rest of his side with his high work rate and ability to rack up clearances.

Has five best player performances and two goals in 14 games.

20. CAMERON BOSMAN

(Lockleys)

A talented player for Lockleys, Bosman’s performances have been important for the Demons this year.

A hard working player at the back and in the contest who competes well in the air and wins plenty of ground ball through his relentless approach.

Has five best player nods as well as two goals in 15 games.

19. DANIEL NOBES

(Hope Valley)

An iconic forward of local SA footy, Nobes remains one of division three’s top players when at full flight.

A strong and skilled player up front for the Demons, Nobes is almost impossible to stop inside 50 with his marking and goalkicking ability and can also do damage around the ground if needed.

Has 34 goals and four best player nods in 12 games but may not play again this season after a recent leg injury.

18. LUKE HEASLIP

(Unley)

A key part of Unley’s lineup, Heaslip has had another standout season for the Jets.

Can produce up front as a clean and skilled forward or provide important run and carry through the middle.

Has 21 goals and eight best player nods in 13 games.

17. HUGO WALTER

(Scotch OC)

Rising Scotch OC star Walter has had one of his best season’s yet in the AdFL.

Can put his athleticism and skill to use through the midfield or across half-back and boasts reliable disposal by hand and foot and an impressive footy IQ.

Has 12 best player mentions and three goals in 16 games.

16. MATT BRUNOLI

(Hope Valley)

Brunoli has had a standout season during a challenging campaign for Hope Valley.

A tough and hardworking player through the middle who finds plenty of the ball and always makes good decisions in possession.

Has 12 best player nods and three goals in 15 games.

15. NATHAN BATLEY

(Lockleys)

The former West Adelaide SANFL League player has been a key part of his side’s success yet again in 2024.

An excellent user of the footy who can rack up possessions in the contest and provide great run and carry, Batley has been as hard as ever for opponents to stop.

Has five best player nods in 15 games.

14. JAMIE SOLLY

(North Haven)

A dominant forward this season, Solly has been integral to North Haven’s finals push.

Solly is a strong and clever forward who leads well, takes strong marks and can kick crafty goals.

Has 48 majors and six best player nods in 15 games.

13. NIC COUROUPIS

Former West Adelaide player Couroupis has been one of Henley’s standouts so far this year.

A hard-nosed inside midfielder known for his strong defensive work and explosiveness from the contest.

Has seven best player nods and 10 goals in 13 games.

12. PATRICK HILLARD

(Henley)

Hillard has had an outstanding season for the Sharks as they push for a div three flag.

A silky player who usually does damage along the wing or across half-back, Hillard’s ability to find teammates with accurate disposal or hit the scoreboard at a high rate makes him one of the division’s best.

Has 18 goals and six best player nods in 15 games.

11. JACOB PEDLER

(Unley)

One of Unley’s top performers this season, Pedler has been a consistent threat for the Jets around the ground.

A strong and athletic player with great hand and foot skills, Pedler can damage opposition with his distribution and often creates a number of goalkicking opportunities for his side.

Has nine best player mentions and seven majors in 15 games.

10. NICK DINHAM

The former North Adelaide gun has been a big influence for the Kings this season, playing a role up front and also pinch-hitting as a big through the middle.

Capable of taking big marks and damaging opponents by booting goals or with his reliable distribution.

Has five best player performances and 39 goals goals in 15 games.

9. TOM PILLION

(Henley)

A star forward for the Sharks, Pillion has been a standout this season.

Has a high work rate and is one of the best forwards to watch in division three with his ability to crash packs in the air or work cleanly off of the deck to win contested possessions for Henley.

Has eight best player nods and 44 goals in his 16 games.

8. BOWEN HOSKING

(Lockleys)

Dominant in the contest and a dangerous asset up front for Lockleys, Hosking has been at his best this season.

A skilled player on the ball who has a big tank, Hosking makes good decisions under pressure and can cut up opposition with damaging ball use.

Has eight best player nods and 14 goals through 15 games so far.

7. MATTHEW BROADBENT

(Henley)

Joining Henley after a starring career with Port Adelaide and South Adelaide, Broadbent has been a major reason behind his club’s undefeated season so far.

A versatile and skilled player who can slot in behind the footy or do damage through the middle, Broadbent’s run and carry and elite delivery makes him a weapon for the Sharks.

Has two best player nods and three goals in 10 games.

6. MARK ROWE

(North Haven)

A superstar leader for North Haven, Rowe has been dominant for the Magpies this year.

One of the competition’s hardest workers, Rowe leads vocally and through his attack at the contest for the Magpies, winning plenty of contested footy for his side, dealing to teammates efficiently and also hitting the scoreboard regularly.

Has 14 goals and 11 best player nods in 16 games.

5. MITCH DUVAL

(Unley)

Star key player Duval has been one of the best players in division three and a standout for Unley this season.

The former West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens SANFL League player can control the backline with ease, reading deliveries to take big intercept marks and also distributing at a high efficiency to teammates up the ground.

Can also play up front and bag goals, with 12 majors and eight best player mentions in 16 games.

4. BEN HAREN

(Lockleys)

One of the Adelaide Footy League’s top forwards, Haren continues to dominate for the Demons.

The former Sydney and South Adelaide key position player is an athletic and mobile big man who covers ground well, takes big marks and boots goals from anywhere.

Has 69 goals in 16 games to lead the division and recently kicked 11 against North Haven.

3. MITCH MEAD

Joining Ramblers last year after time with Woodville-West Torrens, Mead has produced at a high level in division three.

A tough and gritty player who has no problem winning the footy in the contest for his club, Mead often rises to the occasion against the competition’s best.

Has nine best player nods and eight goals in 11 games.

2. ANGUS POOLE

(Lockleys)

Former Woodville-West Torrens star Angus Poole joined Lockleys after a successful stint with Kadina in the Yorke Peninsula and has been dominant since in div three.

A tough player who runs all day and works hard in the contest, Poole wins important contested footy for the Demons and is one of the competition’s best distributors.

Has six best player nods and 12 goals in 12 games.

1. KANE SHERLOCK

One of West Adelaide’s most promising players in 2023, Sherlock was a major pick-up for Henley ahead of its 2024 division three season.

The 21-year-old can play a number of roles around the ground including behind the ball and through the midfield, is one of the division’s cleanest players in the contest and applies strong tackle pressure each week.

Has seven best player nods and two goals in 16 games so far.
