One of SA’s most sought-after Fleurieu Peninsula holiday spots would be upgraded to include a 150-guest function centre on the site under new plans.
Yoho House, a luxuriously renovated and secluded farmhouse near Yankalilla, is fast rising as one of the state’s most popular tourism stays – and under the new plans you can get married there too.
The proposal seeks to demolish an existing shed at the 80-acre Delamere site and build a function centre for 150 people, plus carpark and tourist accommodation.
It would alter the existing external walls to include double-glazed entrance doors.
A commercial kitchen, laundry store and amenities with a deck along the northern and eastern sides of the new building would be built.
The new function centre will cater to “all forms of functions” for a maximum of 150 guests with a total of 48 new guest car parks, a report states.
“We propose a maximum number of three functions per week,” the report said.
“Any weddings will commonly occur in the adjoining chapel or on the surrounding lands and the reception will be conducted in the proposed function centre.
“For flexibility, functions will be available between the house of 9am to midnight.”
The 124 sqm tourist accommodation floor area will be designed for “short-term stays”, but be mainly used to allow guests to stay while organising events at the function centre.
The existing 80-acre property includes Yoho House and is located an hour and half from Adelaide at 40 Yoho Rd, Delamere.
However, the proposed function centre reportedly does not satisfy the minimum setback of 40 metres from the allotment boundary and exceeds the maximum number of customers sought, meaning the proposal is subject to public notification.
Submissions are open to the public until March 14.
