Police alleged just before 3am on June 4, emergency services were called to a home on Carrickalinga Road after reports three people had been assaulted by a person known to them and the house where the incident occurred was on fire.

When police arrived, they located Mr Holeyman attempting to leave the scene on a motorbike.

The alleged victims, a 34-year-old Carrickalinga woman, 48-year-old Carrickalinga man and 52-year-old Keyneton man, received non life-threatening injuries.

The 34-year-old and 52-year-old were taken to hospital for treatment.

The Carrickalinga home were the alleged assault took place was destroyed by the fire, causing more than $250,000 in damage.

On arrival, CFS volunteer firefighters on six trucks found the single-storey house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire saving neighbouring houses from damage.

The home’s occupants, who were initially reported missing, were found by CFS volunteers near the burning home.

Neighbour Kim Harris, who moved to Carrickalinga with his wife and two daughters a month ago, said he was woken up by the sound of fighting at around 2.30am Sunday morning.

The 32-year-old said he heard “hectic banging” like there was a fight.

Trying to go back to sleep the Harris family was woken up by another neighbour – Colin Bartlett – who knocked on their door informing them of the “smoke that was going crazy”.

He said the group of people staying at the property seemed to be having a “shindig” and played music on Saturday night.

“It (the fire) could’ve been really bad – the fact our house is standing is thanks to the CFS,” Mr Harris said.

Mr Holeyman will return to court later this year.
