TWO teenagers from the same southern suburbs shooting club remain in contention for a Commonwealth Games berth after success at two European competitions.
Reynella Smallbore and Air Rifle Club's Jack Rossiter, 16, and Emma Adams, 15, returned home last month from the Czech Republic and Austria with a medal haul.
Emma, of Old Reynella, collected a gold in junior 10m air-rifle events at the Plzen Grand Prix and bronze at the Meyton Cup, while Jack, of Onkaparinga Hills, snared two gold and two bronze across both events.
State shooting coach Carrie Quigley said Emma, ranked No. 1 in Australia for seniors and juniors, and Jack, ranked second in seniors, had big years ahead, with selection in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games a distinct possibility.
The world titles in Granada, Spain, in September could also be on the cards.
"They've had really rapid progress," said Quigley, who has coached the duo over the past three years.
"What they've just done in Europe - some of their results an adult would be pleased with.
"A lot now will depend on the selection, the head coach and what happens in the trials.
"The sky is the limit for them in terms of where they can go."
Quigley said Emma and Jack had a friendly rivalry and got the best out of each other.
"They work really hard ... and we have a really competitive training environment," she said.
Emma who trains four nights a week at Reynella, said getting selected for the world titles or Commonwealth Games were her dreams.
"It would be pretty awesome, but I don't want to get my hopes up just yet," Emma said.
Jack said competing at the Commonwealth Games would be amazing.
"The trip in Europe is the best I've shot in my career so far," he said.
