Plans for a new outdoor learning area, estimated to cost $1 million, have been submitted to a southern council.
Sunrise Christian School in Morphett Vale’s application to build a covered 1200m² recreation centre in the southern end of its ground is currently out for public notification.
A spokesman for the Onkaparinga Council was unable to provide an exact completion date considering the application is still under assessment.
“Given the proposal is currently under development, assessment and consents are yet to be granted, and there is no time frame for construction to commence or complete,” they said.
“However, should consent be granted, construction will be due for commencement within two years of the date of approval and completed within three years.
“The application is currently out for public notification with the opportunity to comment on the proposal closing on 29 June 2021.”
Inside the centre, there is enough space for two basketball courts while the outside will incorporate an outdoor play space including ‘mini ninja course’, a play platform, a sandpit and meeting space with working benches.
The design also includes the additional rainwater tanks, associated fencing and retaining walls around the new facility.
The existing play equipment would be relocated to another location on the school grounds.
Sunrise Christian School was founded in 1978 as a ministry of Adelaide Christian Centre out of the vision of then senior pastor, Ps. Leo Harris.
Since then, the school has expanded to five other schools including Sunrise Christian School Morphett Vale which was established in 1994.
