Police car rammed by car wash thieves at Seaford, two arrested

Two people have been arrested after allegedly robbing multiple coin machines across Adelaide. In one incident, a stolen Mercedes the alleged offenders were driving rammed a police car.

Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing from multiple car wash and dog wash coin machines across Adelaide.

In one incident, the duo made a daring escape after they were caught attempting to steal from at a car wash about 7am Thursday morning, at The Parade at Seaford, police allege.

A man and woman driving a stolen black Mercedes were cornered by the police vehicle before the Mercedes allegedly rammed the police car as two officers attempted to remove them from the car.

The Mercedes drove off, leading police on a pursuit before they lost sight of the suspect car on Eric Rd, Old Noarlunga.

The patrol car sustained minor damage, no officers were injured.

Earlier the same morning, the thieves allegedly broke into a coin machine at a dog wash on Eric Rd at Old Noarlunga about 20 minutes prior to the incident.

They allegedly stole money and drove off.

Following investigations, the two thieves allegedly broke in to coin machines at Victor Harbor, Totness and Prospect.

Officers attended a Lewiston address and located the two suspects, and the stolen black Mercedes – which was seized for forensic examination.

A man of no fixed address, 46, and an Old Noarlunga woman, 51, were arrested and charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft, property damage, acts to endanger life and assaulting a police officer.

They were refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
