A southern suburbs golf course is set to transform after plans were submitted to elevate the space.
The Marion Park Golf Club redevelopment boasts a 100-seat clubroom with clubhouse service including food and beverage facilities, and includes a name change to Seacliff Village Golf Club.
The designs were put before Marion Council in August of 2022, where they were endorsed and council committed $2.7m towards the facility but were released for public comment for the first time last week.
“The Marion Park Golf Club is a real community club where people from all walks of life enjoy our nine-hole golf course,” Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna said.
“Since the clubroom had to be demolished for safety reasons over 15 years ago, the golf club members have had to make do with little more than a shipping container. We’re going to fix that and give them a proper clubhouse.”
A pro shop will also be built on site, suitable for merchandise, retail, and point-of-sale transactions for course fees and buggy hire.
Approximately 15,000 rounds of golf are played on the course every year.
The council anticipates that number could increase up to 25,000 rounds with upgraded facilities.
With work hopefully beginning on the project in the new year, Cement Hill is set to look vastly different in the next 12 months, with work also staring on the long-awaited Seacliff Village.
The Advertiser revealed last year Villawood Properties signed on to develop the site with 700 townhouses, a shopping centre, medical centre as well a childcare centre.
According to the Villawood website, it highlights premium lifestyle with the feel of a close-knit community.
Plans for the Marion Golf Club are open for public notification until December 19.
