A Woodcroft man has died after a major crash on the Southern Expressway.
Emergency services were forced to clear the entrance to the Southern Expressway on Monday afternoon after a two-car crash.
Police were called to Marion Rd, at the start of the Southern Expressway, about 2.30pm after reports of the accident.
On Tuesday, police said a 68-year-old was taken to Flinders Medical Centre with serious injuries and died in hospital.
The other driver in the crash, a 24-year-old Flagstaff Hill man, was also taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A member of a car enthusiasts Facebook page called ‘Hotdog Motorsports SA’ said site administrator Sebastian Lawn was one of the men taken to hospital.
The member posted on the page to advise he was undergoing medical attention.
“On behalf of Sebastian Lawn and his family I would like to advise that Sebastian is currently undergoing medical attention due to a serious car accident this afternoon,” the post read.
“He’s awake and talking.”
Police remained at the scene while tows were organised for the two vehicles.
The 68-year-old man’s death is the 71st life lost on South Australian roads in 2023, compared to 43 at the same time last year.
It comes after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on a major Adelaide Hills road on Saturday.
Just after 2pm on Saturday, police received reports a motorcycle had collided with a ute and an Audi SUV on Greenhill Rd west of Mount Lofty Summit Rd at Cleland.
Police said the motorcyclist, a 59-year-old Mawson Lakes man died at the scene.
