A 27-year-old man facing a number of criminal charges lashed out after his bail application was refused.

When Magistrate Karim Soetratma refused Luke Trout’s bail, the 27-year-old man launched at the AVL screen from his cell yelling “F**k ya’.

Luke Trout was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly demanded cash at a Christies Beach service station last month.

Police allege Mr Trout walked into the Gulfview Road business just after 5pm on Friday, July 29, where he demanded the cash register operator to hand over the till.

“The employee challenged the accused … before he (Trout) lifted his top showing a wood grained handled pistol,” the police prosecutor said.

“The operator opened the cash register and emptied the contents which contained around $200 to $250 in cash … the accused took the cash, putting it down his pants before taking off in a Mazda motor vehicle.”

Police later attended the scene and were able to identify Mr Trout through CCTV.

The court heard less than two weeks later on August 11, Mr Trout had allegedly made his way through a house which is currently under renovation.

Police allege the homeowner and victim identified a number of missing items including a camera and jewellery worth a total of $4,000.

Two days later police attended a house at Morphett Vale with a search warrant where they found Mr Trout hiding behind bushes in the rear yard along with the victims’ belongings.

Mr Trout’s lawyer told the court her client doesn’t remember the offending.

“He is having difficulty recalling the circumstances around his arrest, he doesn’t recall the circumstances of hiding in the bushes and police being there,” she said.

“He instructs he was under the influence at the time and was taking some prescription medication.

“He is contesting the charges.”

The court also heard Mr Trout’s extensive criminal history including ten breaches of bail, trafficking, carrying an offensive weapon, robbery and assault.

Mr Trout will return to court later this year.
