In-road lights are helping motorists navigate a busy southern intersection.
LED lights have been embedded in the road at the intersection of Panalatinga and Kenihans roads – at the Southern Expressway’s Reynella exit.
The lights direct motorists through the junction, which is used by about 30,000 motorists each day, and only activate when the traffic is permitted to travel in that direction.
The $200,000 project was initially earmarked for completion in June last year, but was delayed after the design phase took longer than expected.
Local residents welcomed the announcement of the lights, saying they regularly witnessed confusion at the intersection and motorists travelling in the wrong direction.

Labor MP for Hurtle Vale Nat Cook lobbied for the project after witnessing a number of high-speed accidents at the intersection.
“We’ve been waiting for the completion of this vital safety project for over two years now so local residents are very pleased with the outcome,” Ms Cook said.
“Having witnessed several serious accidents at the intersection myself, this lifesaving initiative is most welcome.”
The Transport Department has been contacted for further comment.
