A southern suburbs business was left shaken after three men allegedly helped themselves to company cars and equipment over the June long weekend.
Ioannis John Grigoriadis, 48, appeared via AVL in the Christies Beach Magistrate Court on Monday after he was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal use.
Police alleged Mr Grigoriadis, along with two other men, entered a business on Boulder Court in Morphett Vale between June 9 and June 13.
The police prosecutor told the court the business was not alerted to the break in until the morning of June 13, when they went to open for the day.
The alleged victim found the gates open and a white 2018 Hyundai iLoad van, and a white 2021 Hyundai Staria Load van, were stolen, along with thousands of dollars worth of tools.
“The accused is identified from CCTV … it shows three people with one in particular who police say matches the description of the accused, including distinct facial features and a bald spot,” the police prosecutor told the court.
“The CCTV shows two vehicles being reversed out of the workshop with Mr Grigoriadis (allegedly) exiting the passenger side of one of the vehicles and attempt to cut the lock of the fence.”
The court heard Mr Grigoriadis, who is currently without teeth and couch surfing with his dog, is currently facing a number of charges relating to other matters including possessing controlled drugs.
“His history is extensive … He has 106 criminal convictions,” the police prosecutor said.
Mr Grigoriadis defence counsel said that while police allege it is him in the CCTV footage due to certain features, it’s not concrete eveience.
“I haven’t seen it, he is a relatively generic looking man and the description of clothing is incredibly generic and place little weight on that.”
Mr Grigoriadis two co-accused have also been arrested, a 37-year-old man from Myponga was refused bail and appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on July 28.
