A Christie Downs man with more than 40 pages of criminal history has received a stark warning from a magistrate.
Leigh Arnold Taylor, 39, faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with driving a vehicle when not authorised, dishonesty dealing with property, breaching a bond and three counts of fail to comply with bail.
A police prosecutor said Taylor had 41 pages of criminal history.
Taylor pleaded guilty via video link from custody to all charges.
Magistrate Alfio Grasso warned Taylor any future offending would land him back in jail.
“Mr Taylor you’ve got a horrendous record,” he said.
“Any time you get into trouble you do realise you’re going to go to jail?
“You’ve got a terrible record, there’s no other option for you so try and keep yourself clean.”
The police prosecutor said Taylor was caught driving erratically without a license in November 2019 and then found in possession of a stolen credit card in September this year.
“Police were called to a disturbance on the Brighton Esplanade on the 23rd September about 1.20pm,” she said.
“They’ve located the defendant. He was searched and a credit card in the name of (the victim) was located.
“The victim advised police that her purse and card were stolen in 2018 and all the cards had been cancelled.”
Mr Grasso convicted Taylor and sentenced him to 14 days in jail but backdated to the beginning of his current custody.
He also fined Taylor $310 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
