A former waiter at one of Adelaide’s most prestigious supermarkets and international soccer star thought a simple apology after indecently assaulting a woman would “make it okay”, a court has heard.

Federico Testa-Cuttitta, 29, faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to one count of indecent assault and resisting police back in May.

The court heard a woman was shopping for pastries at Pasadena Foodland back in August of 2022, when she felt someone grope her behind.

Testa-Cuttitta was working at the Foodland in the cafe section as a waiter.

“The defendant is dressed in all black carrying a plate in one hand while swinging his other arm back and forth, it’s quite evident he stops swinging and drags his hand across his buttocks,” the police prosecutor said.

Federico Testa-Cuttitta has been charged with indecent assault.

“He returns  approximately 40 seconds later, touching her once again.

“She (the victim) approached the defendant after the incident having a brief conversation before leaving the store distressed.”

The court heard in Testa-Cuttitta's police interview he admitted to touching her but did apologise, which “made it okay”.

Testa-Cuttitta was arrested and spent 55 minutes in custody.

In relation to the resisting police charge, Testa-Cuttitta was stopped for not wearing a helmet along Brighton Road in September of the same year.

“Upon being told he was arrested, he became agitated and stated he can't place his hands behind his back stating he had ADHD,” the police prosecutor said.

Testa-Cuttitta is a former Gold Coast Premier League player who signed with Palm Beach in 2019.

At the time of his signing, Mr Testa-Cuttitta said he was impressed by how welcoming the side was and the talent among him.

He also played in the National Premier League in Western Australia for Bayswater City.

Testa-Cuttitta defence counsel told the court how his client wishes to obtain an Australian visa after growing up in Argentina and also spending some time in Italy.

“He couldn't explain why he touched the woman inappropriately... saying there is no excuse for his behaviour,” the defence counsel said.

“For what it’s worth it was not an aggressive charge.”

Testa-Cuttitta will be sentenced in July.
