Daniel Kenneth Graham guilty of distributing images of former partner and Bunnings robbery

A former head chef at a popular Glenelg restaurant sent private photos of his ex-partner to her brother and mother after the couple broke up, a court has heard.

The former partner of a Glenelg head chef said her life has never been the same after woke up to find him in her room in the days after they separated.

Then in what she described as a “foul” and “complete breach of her privacy” sent private images to her family.

Daniel Kenneth Graham, 37, accompanied by his mother, pleaded guilty to a number of charges including damaging a building or motor vehicle and distributing an image of a person over 17 in the Christies Beach Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The court heard the father-of-four entered his former partner's home on August 24, 2021, three days after the couple had separated.

"At 1.15am she was woken up by noises... the defendant had come into her room and he did not want to go," Magistrate Rodney Oates told the court.

"He caused damage when he went outside to the rear yard... there was spray paint on her car and four of her tires were flat."

Graham then sent personal pictures of the woman to her mother and brother, the court heard.

In the victim impact statement, Graham's former partner said the ordeal had left her highly anxious.

"She said she is the shell of her old self," Magistrate Oates said..

"She has been overwhelmed with anxiety, she was not able to go to work for weeks because her mental state was so shattered

"She referred to the photos sent to her mother and brother that it was disgusting, foul and a complete breach of her privacy.

"She also said life is not the same."

The court also heard, several months prior Graham, who was on drugs at the time, entered Reynella Bunnings and made off with a number of goods.

“This was around the time he was struggling with drug dependency,” Sara Dobbyn, for Graham, said.

“The items that were taken were eventually seized and returned in a saleable condition.

“He started using marijuana socially in school, he had no dependency issues, he has then started using heavier drugs such as ice and tried smoking it.

Ms Dobbyn highlighted some of Graham’s employment history which included a head chef role at the Salt and Wine bar in Glenelg before becoming the second chef at Hector’s on the Wharf in Goolwa.

Magistrate Oates sentenced Graham to nine months, one week and four days imprisonment, suspended on a 24 month good behaviour bond.

He was also ordered to pay $4000 in compensation.
