An Aldinga Beach plumber has faced court following a road rage incident which ended in assault.
Dale Williams, 47, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and property damage after the May 3 incident.
The Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday heard Williams had been driving at Aldinga Beach when he was cut off by another driving conducting a U-turn.
“The defendant owns an expensive HSV vehicle it’s a rare car and he’s very protective of it and that was the initiating event that started this sequence of events,” Magistrate Rodney Oates said.
“The defendant followed the victim and the car stopped and apparently the defendant abused the victim.
“The parties ended up in front of a house and while they were there, there was some more abuse and it was in this context the defendant pushed the victim backwards.”
The fall caused the victim’s prescription glasses to be damaged.
The court heard Williams – who works as a self-employed plumber – has martial arts training so the push was “at the lesser end of the criminal scale”.
Mr Oates convicted Williams and fined him $600.
He also ordered Williams pay $576.95 in compensation for the broken glasses.
