Southern suburbs dog owners are on high alert after reports of suspected dog baiting along a popular walking strip.
More than 15 pieces of meat or offal were found along the Esplanade at Port Noarlunga South last week.
The meat was found between Aldam Road and Cliff Avenue by a local couple, who reported the discovery to police and Onkaparinga Council.
Resident Carolyn Bradley found another piece of meat just days after council staff doorknocked the area asking for possible security camera footage.
“I was very focused on watching out for any left meat as I walk my dogs along the Esplanade every morning,” Ms Bradley said.
“On my way home I found a piece of meat near Anzacs Wall opposite Aldam Road.”
Ms Bradley alerted SA Police and the council who collected the meat to send off for testing at the RSPCA.
An Onkaparinga Council spokesman said the test results were not yet known but temporary warning signs had been put in place.
“As a precaution our rangers have doorknocked the local area to find out if anyone witnessed the material being deposited or captured footage on security cameras,” he said.
“The area has been rechecked regularly, however no further material has been identified. We are considering the use of CCTV in the area.”
Anyone with further information or who has witnessed similar activity is encouraged to contact SA Police and Onkaparinga Council.
