After more than three years of complaints and failed attempts by council to clean up, a Happy Valley resident has faced court over the state of his property.
Onkaparinga Council has undertaken two forced cleans of Christopher Lewis Roediger’s junk-strewn Jarrad Road home since late 2019.
But local residents said even as the council were cleaning the property Mr Roediger “rocked up with another trailer full of stuff to unload into the yard when they finished.”
“There’s trailers, a caravan, tents, umbrellas, old signs, shopping trolleys, fridges and all sorts of things over there,” a resident said.
“He’s put (a shipping container) right down the other end of the street and now he’s filling it up and putting all of his rubbish in that.”
Last month, The Messenger revealed Onkaparinga Council would take legal action against Mr Roediger.
At the time, a council spokesman confirmed Mr Roediger had been fined and forced cleans had been undertaken with little success, leaving the council no other option than to commence legal action.
“Generally, if action … fails to resolve the issue, stronger powers under the Development Act are used,” the spokesman said.
On Wednesday, Mr Roediger made his first appearance at the Environment, Resources and Development Court.
Mr Roediger was unable to be contacted.
