An Aldinga Beach man has faced court charged with possessing child exploitation material of a “pornographic nature”.

At the Christies Beach Magistrates Court, police alleged Brenton James Peters, 35, was in possession of the material between May and August 2019.

Court documents said Peters was in possession of the material “knowing of its pornographic nature”.

“It is further alleged that the circumstances of the aggravation are that the offender committed the offence knowing the victim of the offence was, at the time … under the age of 14 years,” the documents said.

The court heard the charges against Peters had been laid and later withdrawn last year.

A police prosecutor said the charges were relaid following police investigations of an electronic device.

Magistrate Teresa Anderson placed Peters on a bail order to the amount of $1000.

“A standard condition (applies) not to undertake any paid or voluntary employment which involves regular contact with any person under the age of 18 years and not to be alone … in the presence of any person under 18 years unless that person is accompanied by a parent or guardian,” she said.

Peters will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in December.
