A Normanville woman charged with stealing local anaesthetic from a southern suburbs hospital has faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court.

Bianca Jade Hornhardt pleaded guilty to stealing xylocaine – a fast acting local anaesthetic – from Flinders Medical Centre in March.

Ms Hornhardt, 29, allegedly stole the drug from the labour ward while visiting her sister.

She told the court she thought it was some kind of adrenaline.

“It was just a silly thing to do, I didn’t need it, I didn’t want it,” she said.

Police found the drug in a kitchen cupboard at her home in May.

She allegedly told police she didn’t know what the drug was for and hadn’t used it but admitted to stealing it from the hospital.

Ms Hornhardt also faced charges of unlawfully on premises and unlawful possession related to charges from 2019.

A number of stolen items including an antique clock, rocking chair, wooden shoebox and eight bottles of wine were found at her Normanville property.

She allegedly told police it was a coincidence that she had been sighted by police at the property from which those items were stolen from.

Ms Hornhardt pleaded guilty to all charges.

Magistrate Rodney Oates sentenced Ms Hornhardt to 60 hours of community service.
