Beresford Estate, owned by Adelaide’s Bickford’s Group, to open new wine tasting pavilion
A MULTI-million dollar revamp of a winery owned by SA cordial giant Bickfords is to be unveiled this month — it includes new accommodation and a tasting pavilion.
BERESFORD Estate will open later this month to offer a premium event and accommodation venue in McLaren Flat following a “multi-million” investment.
The winery, owned by the Bickford’s Group, has also undergone major works over the past year to build a new tasting pavilion on its Ingoldby Rd site.
Bickford’s Group marketing manager Chris Illman said the company was excited to soon offer a base for its wine tastings and an event option.
“It’s been a long process but one we’re more than happy to take the time to ensure we get it right,” Mr Illman said.
“This (investment) is an important aspect to build our brand, but also it’s important with the residents to get it right.”
Onkaparinga Council’s development assessment panel has approved the winery’s application for the estate homestead to be used as tourist accommodation for up to eight people and a function centre.
Bickford’s bought the property in 2012, but was yet to open Beresford Estate for tastings.
“When we acquired the property it was always the intent to turn the house, not only into a function centre, but into accommodation primarily to have a stand-alone event solution in the McLaren Vale area,” Mr Illman said.
Mr Illman said the business would use local suppliers for events and market its other products, such as Bickford’s cordial and Three Oaks Cider.
“It’ll be a real celebration of SA,” he said.
Eight residents had objected to the function centre based on increased noise and traffic in the area.
