Sunrise over Adelaide is better than the gym: Taytum Cox shares her experience for #SnapAdelaide

THERE’S nothing like a spectacular sunrise to make an early-morning workout worthwhile — Adelaide dancer Taytum Cox regularly runs up Mount Lofty and she shares her routine as part of #SnapAdelaide.

THERE is no need for a filter when Taytum Cox posts a picture of the Mount Lofty view on social media after one of her early morning runs.

At least three times a week, Ms Cox runs to the summit to watch the sunrise over Adelaide, which she says gives her motivation to face the day.

“It is really beautiful, clears my mind … and it’s a good workout rather than going to the gym,” Ms Cox, 25, says.

“You just go up with friends, have a bit of a chat on the way up … then take a selfie put it up it up on Snapchat and that.”

Ms Cox, of Aberfoyle Park, who is a professional dancer, takes about an hour to run up and down the mountain.

“I actually used to do (Mount) Lofty with guys on like a first date to make sure they could keep up with me,” she says.

As part of our SnapAdelaide campaign we want to know how you start your day.

On top of the world, well at least Adelaide is Taytum Cox.
On top of the world, well at least Adelaide is Taytum Cox.

Whether it is punishing yourself at boot camp, throwing a line off one of our jetties or heading to your nearest coffee shop, we want you to share photos of your morning ritual.

Share your pictures by hashtagging #SnapAdelaide and then posting via Instagram, Twitter or your local paper’s Facebook page.

(Don’t forget to make sure your Facebook setting is public, so we can see your photos.)

The campaign, which aims to bring the community together to celebrate what we love about our city, will culminate in a national day of action where readers, our journalists and photographers will snap and share photos, on Wednesday, November 16.

In the lead up to the big day, Messenger Community News and Canon are offering readers the chance to win one of 25 places at a Local Characters Workshop in Adelaide on October 26.

Hosted by Canon Collective ambassador Steve, the workshop will give tips on street photography, before attendees spend two hours hitting the streets.

Participants will be loaned a Canon EOS camera to use and a memory card to keep their images. The Eastern Courier Messenger will publish the best images from the day.

But you don’t need to be a part of the workshop to get your image published.

If you are a budding photographer who snaps a great picture of a local character, we would love you to share it with us.

So let’s get together to make this year’s SnapAdelaide a South Australian success story.

All you need to do is start snapping.

SEND IN YOUR PICTURES

TO go into the draw to win a place at the Canon workshop, visit snapadelaide.com.au before Thursday, October 20.
