Our neighbourhood, our people: Get involved in #SnapAdelaide, 2016

IN less than a week’s time, you’ll be called on to share a picture of your part of Adelaide in our first-ever #SnapAdelaide event. We take a look at who is getting in early — here’s how you can snap, hashtag, share.

OSCAR Bridges has been taking pictures of “weird and wacky things” across Adelaide, ever since he got his hands on an iPod five years ago.

The 10-year-old, who starred in The Sound of Music at the Festival Theatre in August, often explores different parts of Adelaide with his mum, Katie, and sister, Maggie.

“I like taking photos of weird and wacky things … but I also like taking pictures of all the beautiful nature things,” he says.

“I do selfies and make sure my face is in it so you can see what is around.”

Oscar, of Payneham, particularly loves exploring his own neighbourhood.

“It has really nice playgrounds, trees and some of the houses are really old and beautiful,” he says.

Ms Bridges enjoys the family’s walks and watching her children make happy memories.

“They are always snapping photos of this and that and playing games and taking photos,” she says.

The Bridges family has backed News Corp’s SnapAdelaide campaign, which aims to bring the community together to celebrate what we love about our city through photos.

The campaign will culminate in a national day of action next Wednesday, November 16, when our readers, journalists and photographers will snap and share photos on Instagram or Messenger’s Facebook pages, using the hashtag #SnapAdelaide, or on Twitter using the handle @SnapAdelaide.

But you don’t need to wait until then to start sharing your photos.

We would love you to share photographs of what makes your community special in the lead up to next week’s event, and we will publish them on our SnapAdelaide Facebook page.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures we’ve shared from Instagram. Follow us on Instagram, instagram.com/snapadelaide and Facebook www.facebook.com/SnapAdelaide
