Rate increases and supporting the arts, we reveal the biggest additions for the business plan

Road resealing and more support for the arts are high on Port Lincoln council’s list of things to do for the next decade. See what else is in the pipeline.

Heading into a new decade means a new decade of vision and projects, according to Port Lincoln’s chief executive officer Matthew Morgan.

In the newly released draft annual business plan for 2021/2022, there are several key areas and projects council wish to spend their time on.

“It’s finally time we get some traction behind these projects,” Mr Morgan said.

“We have made the latest draft of the business plan clear in what our goals and intentions are for Port Lincoln’s future and what that will look like by each stage.”

Councillors have participated with staff through workshops and council meetings in the development of the draft annual business plan for 2021/2022 for adoption for community and stakeholder consultation and feedback.

Some key elements of the business plan 2021/2022 outline the commencement of the foreshore redevelopment project and the road reseals program totalling $750,000.

“A big part of our future will be seeing how we can incorporate the arts into Port Lincoln while also supporting those that are already established currently around the town, we really want to become a culture hub,” Mr Morgan said.

“Council will also look to see how we can continue to support local industries as they bounce back from the last 18 months.”

The Draft Annual Business Plan also proposes increases in revenue from rates and service

charges including a total general rate revenue increase of four per cent.

Consultation for the business plan will commence on Thursday, May 20 and conclude on Friday June 11.

After considering community and stakeholder feedback and any new or revised information, council will determine the final project priorities for inclusion together with final revenue and other settings in order to adopt both the the annual business plan and the annual budget that supports a financially sustainable long term future.

The annual business draft can be found on the council’s website.
