Three new retail stores destined for a developing area of Port Lincoln could create employment opportunities and pump up the local economy.
The bulk goods outlets have been proposed for the corner of Verron Terrace and St Andrews Terrace.
According to a report submitted to the State Government’s planning authority by Master Plan for Linkon Park, the land neighbours Bunnings, Harvey Norman and PETstock.
It also identifies existing roads would be used to access the new businesses.
“The locality is commercial in nature and generally characterised by bulky goods outlets, light industry, heavy industry, service trade premise and retail outlets located on very large allotments,” the plan stated.
The total leasable floor space across the three stores area is 2,474 sqm and would requires an additional 62 carparking spaces to accommodate for demand.
Carparking and landscaping plans would coincide with the already established businesses.
Surrounding the development site is Mitre 10 and nearby rail yards to the north.
The proposal concludes that the erection of three bulky goods outlets complies with stormwater management; appropriately accommodates carparking and vehicle manoeuvring, loading and unloading; and will provide additional economic activity and employment opportunities to the local area.
