Popular Port Lincoln takeaway King Neptune’s Seafood and Pasta is set to change hands after it was snapped up by a local hospitality entrepreneur.

Former owners Emma and Tim Lally bought the business in 2016 for $90,000, and after successfully running the shop seven days a week, the Lallys say it’s time to focus on family, and other business ventures.

In a tribute to her late father, Emma posted to Instagram:

“We finally did it, we sold King Neptunes.”

“My last day is tomorrow and I have all the time in the world now ... I wish you were here.”

“5 years of many highs, lows and in betweens #nextchapter.”

The couple put the business up for sale in June and it was quickly snapped up by budding local business mogul Akash Thakural and wife Harjit for a “very good deal”.

“Emma and Tim are really good people,” Mr Thakural said.

“They gave us all their secret recipes and all their good staff, which we are keeping.”

Mr Thakural travelled to Australia from India to study his Certificate III of Cookery in Sydney before visiting South Australia for a holiday, when he fell in love with Port Lincoln.

He moved here in 2009 and by 2014 he and Harjit had bought their first business, Capital Seafood.

What followed from there was a series of local acquisitions that have made the Akash family one of the most prominent hospitality owners in Port Lincoln.

The couple purchased Fumo 28 Oyster and Seafood bar, Flame 40 and Cruisers Hub Cafe in the years following their arrival, with family members contributing to the successful daily operations of all businesses.

“We are putting our effort into the hospitality industry, trying to bring some different concepts to the town,” Mr Thakural said.

Unstoppable, this family of dedicated entrepreneurs have just yesterday put pen to paper for ownership of Port Lincoln’s Deli on Dublin.

They are also in the process of bringing a new specialised chicken franchise to Lincoln in the coming weeks.
