A 70-year-old NSW man was rendered to safety Friday morning

Helicopter emergency services were deployed early this morning after and elderly man issued a warning after crashing his boat 30km west of Elliston.

Emergency services have successfully recused a troubled boat and it’s captain off the coast of the Eyre Peninsula in the early hours of Friday morning.

Just after 2am on September 15, emergency services were alerted to an EPIRB activation from Flinders Island, about 30km west of Elliston.

A Challenger 604 aircraft was deployed from Perth to attend the area while police and paramedics left in PolAir from Adelaide.

Both PolAir and the Challenger arrived at the scene about 6.30am.

A SAAS paramedic was winched down to the vessel bringing the patient back up to the helicopter.

The patient, a 70-year-old NSW man was flown to the Port Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

No other injuries have been reported.
