When The Messenger and The Advertiser heard the news about Holden we put a call out for your favourite Holden photos.
From the first model in 1948, Holden has delivered not just cars but pride, joy and decades of employment to South Australians.
We had our first dates in Holdens, learnt to drive in them, ferried our children to school in them, and travelled the state and country in them.
Bronwyn Michelle, of Salisbury East, posted a black and white of her mother, Flora Perry, posing with some very smart wheels at the Dog on the Tuckerbox in 1953.
Caroline Liebich, of Morphett Vale, sent her 1985 Gemini pictured outside the Holden factory. It was the only brand new car her mother ever bought.
Ian Hardinge, also of Morphett Vale, got a big thumbs up for his 1970 LC GTR Torana, while Matt Morgillo, in Adelaide’s west, shared his award for transforming his Holden Statesman into a glistening street machine.
It will be a sad day when the last Holden rolls off the production line later this year.
One thing they can’t take is the memories.
