A man has been charged with more than 40 offences relating to a northern suburbs drug laboratory, gun workshop and arsenal of imitation and homemade firearms, court documents reveal.

Steven Mark Marangon, a 55-year-old West Croydon man, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with 46 counts including manufacturing a controlled drug, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing a firearm without licence, manufacturing a firearm and firearm part and possess a prohibited weapon offences relating to items seized from a shed in Burton.

Documents released to The Messenger alleged that on November 16, officers from the Northern District Volume Crime Section attended an address in Burton after receiving information that there was a firearm on the premises, currently rented by Mr Marangon.

Officers entered the unoccupied and unlocked shed to find glassware and equipment, which officers from the Drug Investigation Branch allege to have been used to manufacture illegal substances and deemed the set up a category C Laboratory.

The search continued and officers allegedly found evidence of the shed’s occupant manufacturing firearms including homemade flame throwers, handguns and suppressors.

Police allege that during the search a Honda CRF motorbike stolen from a Glenelg address in May of this year and two sets of stolen registration plates were also at the scene along with CCTV footage from the scene.

Police were unable to find Mr Marangon at the time and an investigation continued to locate him, but he was later arrested on November 22 when he attended the Elizabeth Police Station.

Mr Marangon was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates court in March of next year to answer the charges.
