STUDENT Jasmine Hancock has embarked on a quest to find the owners of old family photos found inside a book in Adelaide’s northeastern suburbs.

Ms Hancock, 20, of Modbury Heights, has been posting the pictures on social media since her grandmother, Yvonne Hancock, discovered them in a second-hand book she picked up at Savers at Tea Tree Plaza.

The photos show a middle-aged couple standing in front of a wooden fence in a suburban backyard, a boy and a girl in front of a weatherboard house and a young woman sitting beside the lake at the Botanic Gardens.

“I want to find the owners as they seem to have sentimental value due to the age of them,” Ms Hancock said.

Ms Hancock, who is studying animal technology at TAFE, said she was hoping the power of social media would help her to find the owners of the photographs — or someone who knows them.

“The book was a novel by an author my grandma likes and we didn’t realise there were photos inside until we were home,” she said.

She said the only clues she had received were that the couple may be regular shoppers in the Modbury area, particularly Tea Tree Plus.

“It’s a bit like looking for the needle in a hay stack but I’m determined to find the owners,” she said.

“I’m sure they would want them back.”
