One of two men accused of assaulting an online seller with a hammer in a Prospect car park before robbing him of more than $20,000 worth of good has faced court.
Christian Burgess Spratt, 45, appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the aggravated offence of theft using force.
Police allege just after 11pm on Wednesday February 10, a man agreed to meet another man in the Northpark Shopping Centre on Main North Road, Prospect, to purchase electrical items.
It is alleged that two men approached the seller and allegedly hit him in the legs and shoulder with a hammer before they stole a bag containing cash, a laptop and other personal items.
A charge sheet lodged with the court estimated the value of the items at $21,200.
The incident prompted a warning from police to always consider their personal safety when meeting with strangers from online.
Spratt, of Semaphore, appeared via video-link before Magistrate Paul Foley on Monday and entered no plea.
Bail was opposed by the police prosecutor and a home detention report was ordered.
The matter return to the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court next month.
