SA’s Covid breakdown: The LGAs with the highest number of infections revealed commencing January 17

Some South Australian local government areas have seen a significant drop in active cases while the state’s total remains steady, see the hot spots here.

Relatively stable daily Covid-19 case numbers may be quelling some South Australians fears of a spiralling outbreak, but some areas are still faring far worse than others.

Localised data released by SA Health shows how many cases are active in each local government area, with the latest numbers continuing to show the disparity in case numbers across Adelaide, and the state.

On Thursday South Australia recorded 3777 cases of Covid-19.

Premier Steven Marshall said nine men and two women had died, although not all the deaths were necessarily in the past 24 hours due to reporting delays.

It comes after Western Australia’s premier Mark McGowan announced it would be delaying opening its borders with SA on Thursday.

While Salisbury remains the local government area with the highest case numbers in the state with 4738 active cases, it’s a far cry from the 8646 active cases in the last reporting period.

The reduction in numbers comes as patients recover from Covid-19 and become negative to the virus.

The Port Adelaide LGA is also down from 6652 active cases to 3463.
