SALISBURY North Football Club has named its new senior coaching team, ready for their 2019 return to the Adelaide Footy League.

All three of the club’s senior teams were suspended by the league in June after a player’s eight week suspension broke a good behaviour agreement between the club and league.

New A-grade coach Joe Hay believes a focus on making cultural changes will reinstate the Bagster Rd club as the “destination club” in the area.

“I’d say we’re definitely out to make sure we’re a respected member of the competition again next season,” Mr Hay said.

“Anybody that is from the northern suburbs and is a talented footballer and wants to play at the highest level they can outside of SANFL, we want to be the club that they aim to play for.”

Senior assistant A-grade coach Daniel Miller played 11 years of senior football at the club and is prepared for the hard work of the club’s Division 2 comeback.

“We’ve all been in footy circles long enough to know what it takes in terms of putting the foundation in preseason and doing the hard work early and then trying to put together a method will be successful,” Mr Miller said.

Luke McCracken will step in as B-grade coach and A-grade assistant coach while Terry Jeffery will coach the C-grade.

With more than 70 players already signed, the club will welcome back old players but is expecting some fresh faces in the senior playing group.

“There will be a fair share of new players to the club — I think what’s important is that they fit the culture of the direction that the club want to go,” Mr Hay said.

“They need to fit the profile of the type of person we’re looking for as much as (being) the type of player.”

The coaching team are confident their style of play will lead the club to a successful season and position back in Division 1 in 2020.

“Salisbury North footy is fast physical and honest football,” Mr Hay said. “That’s absolutely the style we’ll play, that’s where our strengths lie.

“We’ve certainly got other parts of the game plan to tweak but fast physical honest footy is where we’re at our best.”
