Prospect Council to endorse lease option for Charles Cane Reserve

BOSA Soccer Club is set to learn if it has secured Charles Cane Reserve as its home at a Prospect Council meeting next week.
Last year, council staff recommended the Hounds be granted the winter lease of the Churchill Rd, Prospect, oval from March 31 after they were among six sporting clubs to apply for it.
But a decision was deferred in mid-December as councillors pushed to have two clubs share the venue and called for a second expression of interest stage.
BOSA has since submitted another sole expression of interest, along with a new joint application with Eagles Lacrosse Club.
Hounds secretary Ralph Armiento said his club, which has not had a permanent base in its 17-year history, remained confident in its sole proposal but was open to sharing the ground.
"It looks like we'll probably be in there, either by ourselves or with lacrosse," Armiento said.
"We'd definitely be happy if we can get there because it'd give us a base to grow soccer in the City of Prospect.
"We're happy to do it with lacrosse but it's not going to give us our ideal membership base and doesn't give us full access to the ground."
Armiento said the SA Amateur Soccer League club was committed to a $75,000 upgrade of the ground's lighting and clubrooms over three years, but only if it was awarded a sole lease.
Adelaide Villa Soccer Club has also applied to lease the ground.
Councillors are expected to endorse one of the lease options for community consultation on Tuesday, January 28.
Prospect's community and planning director Deb Richardson said having two clubs share the ground would maximise its use and cater for different parts of the community.
Eagles Lacrosse Club could not be contacted before presstime.
