BOUTIQUE cafes, restaurants and trendy bar operators keen to set up in the northern suburbs are being urged to apply for tenancies in Elizabeth.
Playford Council is calling on existing eateries keen to expand or prospective business owners to register their interest for sites available at its new Prince George Plaza.
Norwood-based Intrepid Property is handling the expressions of interest process.
Managing director Craig Feely said the 305sq m space could be occupied by a sole business or divided into 40sq m spaces to accommodate four separate eateries.
“We are looking for all kinds of food users,” Mr Feely said.
“And I mean fresh food, takeaway foods and even dine-in (operators).
“There is going to be a strong focus on South Australian brands, not necessarily national franchise businesses. We want experienced, local operators – that is what the council wants.”
Construction of the $5.5 million development – part of the council’s $400 million Northern CBD project – is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of August.
It is expected to feature cinema-size television screens and a stretch of outdoor dining venues.
Mayor Glenn Docherty was keen to attract businesses that hailed specifically from the north.
“As Playford’s Northern CBD progresses and the official opening of the Prince George Plaza draws near, we are now looking for dynamic food and beverage operators – especially from our region – interested in setting up along the northern end of the square,” Mr Docherty said.
“It’s a perfect opportunity for new or existing eateries to add vibrancy to one of the most exciting new developments in Adelaide’s north.”
The Prince George Plaza is being built next to the Civic Centre on Playford Blvd.
A central water feature – a fountain that was positioned in the city centre and unveiled by Queen Elizabeth during her visit to the suburb in 1963 – will be installed at the site.
