PLAYFORD Mayor Glenn Docherty expects a surge in interest from developers when the council puts the Munno Para Bowling Club site on the market within three months.
After a year of heated negotiations with the club, which was against the sell-off, Planning Minister John Rau has endorsed the council’s plan to revoke its community-land status.
The council can now push ahead with plans to sell the 2ha site.

Mr Docherty said he expected the prime piece of real estate, on the corner of Main North and Curtis roads, to generate plenty of commercial interest.
“I think it’s a very good location,” he said.
“It’s an opportunity for someone to purchase that site and obviously there will be some rezoning of that site in the future and the opportunity for jobs growth.
“It’s a win-win for the community.”
Playford Council plans to offload the site for about $6.8 million.
The council wants to sell it to developers who would transform it into a commercial hub, with businesses creating jobs for locals.
It would then use the proceeds from the sale to help pay for a $10 million bowling centre next to Playford Alive Oval on Goodman Rd at Elizabeth.
The centre will form part of a planned $55 million sports precinct.
The Munno Para Bowling Club will continue to use the site until the new centre is built in two to three years.
The club had expressed concerns over the distance members would need to travel to the new centre and potential rent increases.
Munno Para Bowling Club president and manager Lee Veness said the club would work with the council throughout planning for the new centre. “They’ve made their decision and we’ve got to move forward,” he said.
