Paradise Hotel to re-open after $3m renovation

PARADISE Hotel will reopen Wednesday night with an expanded menu, two in-house theatres and a new dining area following a $3 million renovation to make the popular pub more family-focused.

PARADISE Hotel will reopen Wednesday night with a new menu, two in-house theatres and a new dining area following a $3 million renovation to make the popular pub more family-focused.

The revamp also included removing the bottle shop and relocating the gaming room from its prominent spot at the front of the building to the back.

Hotel manager Adrian Prosser said the theatre rooms will screen children’s movies and TV shows.

“(The hotel) is set up as a family-oriented hotel ... we added the two theatre rooms for kids’ activities and screenings,” Mr Prosser said.

He said the theatres replaced an old play area.

The restaurant area can seat up to 250 people with extra space at the bar.

“The new dining room is now at the front of hotel, which is off Lower North East Rd, so it gets a lot more traffic,” Mr Prosser said.

“And the courtyard area is off of that.

“The venue itself was a little bit rundown and needed a bit of a lift, so we brought it back to life and opened it up a bit more.”

There will be a new menu but some of the old favourites will stay such as rotisserie chicken, seafood platter for two and slow-roasted steak.

The hotel was closed for about three months during renovations.

Mr Prosser said staff numbers were reduced “quite significantly” during the work, but the hotel would build those numbers back up across the next few weeks.

“Anyone who was previously here can apply if they haven’t already found employment,” he said.

“We helped find as much employment for staff as we could through other hotels (during the renovations).
