A 19-year-old northern suburbs man arrested for allegedly trying to meet a 14-year-old girl has been granted bail.
Naim Louis Anderson, of Evanston Park, was arrested on Thursday after allegedly going to a train station to meet who he believed would be a 14-year-old girl he had been talking to online – but the person was actually an undercover police officer.
Australian authorities began their investigations after a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Anderson was communicating with a 13-year-old girl from the United States.
The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation also received reports of an Australian man uploading child abuse material to social media, who the AFP allege was Anderson.
Anderson was granted bail on strict conditions that allow police to enter his home and search electronic devices at any time.
Bail was not opposed by the prosecution.
The court heard Anderson was unemployed and on disability benefits.
He is not allowed internet use except for banking and matters relating to welfare.
The matter will return to court next month.
