An argument over money for motorcycles between two mates led to one man being stabbed to death with a kitchen knife and the other charged with his murder, court documents allege.

Court documents released to The Advertiser by the Elizabeth Magistrates Court allege Johnathon Malcolm Goodfellow, 30, told police he “didn’t mean to kill” his mate Jordan Torrans after an altercation at his Salisbury Downs home on Wednesday evening.

According to the documents, Mr Torrans had attended Mr Goodfellow’s home to collect “money for bikes he had bought,” when it is alleged a fight broke out onto the road.

“He (Mr Goodfellow) stated during this altercation he picked up whatever he could, a small peeling knife or similar,” SA Police allege.

In his witness statement, father of the alleged murderer Malcolm Goodfellow, who was at home at the time of the alleged altercation, told police he heard his son arguing with Mr Torrans, and heard a “loud scuffle” outside of the home.

“(His father) saw that the suspect (Mr Goodfellow) was holding a kitchen knife in his right hand, holding it back behind his body, but with the blade facing towards the victim,” his police statement alleged.

“The knife was about 20cm in length with the blade about 10cm long.”

He told police he didn’t see what happened next, but saw Mr Torrans looking “unsteady on his feet and stumbling” before he collapsed on his back in the front yard.

Mr Goodfellow allegedly dropped the knife on the driveway and took his jumper off to “stop the bleeding.”

Emergency services were called to a Salisbury Downs address just before 7pm on Wednesday.

Neighbours rushed over to see what was happening, with one performing CPR on the 31-year-old father until paramedics arrived, but Mr Torrans sadly passed away.

Police allege witnesses at the scene of the stabbing heard Mr Goodfellow crying, and saw him in a “panicked state” after the alleged incident.

“The suspect was hysterical saying ‘this shouldn't have happened’ and ‘what the f*** have I done?’,” documents allege.

Another witness allegedly heard Mr Goodfellow yelling “what have I done” and “why didn’t you stop me?”

Following his arrest on Wednesday night, Mr Goodfellow allegedly told investigating officers that he “didn’t mean for this to happen,” and that he “didn’t mean to kill him.”

Mr Goodfellow faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon charged with murder.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance in January.
