A man has been hit with a string of charges after a motorcyclist was seen busting wheelies on Jetty Rd at Glenelg overnight.
A trail bike was witnessed doing wheelies and driving without lights on the popular high street just before 8pm on Saturday.
The police helicopter tracked the bike as it headed south at high speed and driving dangerously, until it reached Marla Crescent at Noarlunga Downs, police said.
Officers swooped on the alleged rider – a Noarlunga Downs man, 23 – who was arrested and charged with multiple traffic offences, including driving unregistered, uninsured, without registration plates and in a manner dangerous to the public. His trail bike was seized and impounded for 28 days.
The man was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court in October.
Also overnight, a motorcyclist was badly injured after careering off the road and crashing into a ditch at One Tree Hill.
Emergency services were called to Cornishmans Hill Rd around 9.30pm after reports of a motorbike crashing into a ditch just off the road.
The solo 59-year-old rider of the bike suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
Witnesses have been asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
