Modbury green space sale for 35 units takes step forward
A plan to sell off nearly half of a Modbury Reserve for 35 units has taken a step forward.
A plan to sell off nearly half of a Modbury reserve for a 35-unit, two-storey housing development has taken a further step.
Tea Tree Gully Council will now seek public feedback on a plan to convert up to 42 per cent of the 12,000sq m Australia Reserve into 25-35 units.
The council has been approached by “several potential purchasers” to build on the “undeveloped local reserve”.
It has two concepts on the table – taking up either 33 or 42 per cent of the land.
The site has been earmarked for housing since 2015, as a result of rezoning in the Modbury precinct.
Cr Rob Unger said he had already been approached from local residents concerned about parking issues.
He said the plan involved 51 car spaces.
“I assured them this process is one of listening and engagement,” Cr Unger said.
“Residents will benefit greatly from investment in the reserve.
“I look forward to receiving the community’s feedback.”
Consultation begins next month.
