MetroStars captain Lee Robertson plays 300th Federation game

LEE Robertson has contemplated his playing future at the end of recent seasons but one thing keeps him coming back to the MetroStars Soccer Club.

LEE Robertson has contemplated his playing future at the end of recent seasons but one thing keeps him coming back to the MetroStars Soccer Club.

"It's such a good family environment ... and they count you as family once you walk into the clubrooms," he said.

"The people at the club pull you in and you're one of their own from day one."

Robertson, 32, chalked up his 300th federation game against Enfield City on Saturday.

The defender began his career at Campbelltown City and had a stint at Playford City before moving to Klemzig-based MetroStars in 2004.

Success immediately followed. MetroStars won the league, Federation Cup, minor premiership treble in his first season with the club.

Since then it has taken out another two league titles and two cups.

"I'd won a Federation Cup at Playford but that was it ... then I joined MetroStars in 2004 and gained silverware straight away," Robertson said.

"Straight away I felt at home at Metro. It was a great move."

Robertson, of Redwood Park, will wait until the end of the season before discussing with coach Ivan Karlovic whether to play on for another year.

He hopes to win at least one more title before hanging up the boots.

"As long as I'm enjoying it and the body feels up to it I'll play for as long as the club wants me to play," he said.
