A Davoren Park man who allegedly possessed child exploitation material involving a person under the age of 14 has been granted bail.

James Ross Cox, 57, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon charged with one basic and one aggravated count of disseminating, or taking a step in the dissemination, of child exploitation material “knowing of its pornographic nature”.

Cox allegedly committed the aggravated offence in the knowledge that the child was under the age of 14.

Police also claim Cox possessed child exploitation material knowing of its pornographic nature and that the victim was under the age of 14.

All of the offending was alleged to have occurred on March 2 this year at Davoren Park.

Police say he was arrested by Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team detectives earlier this week.

Cox did not make a comment during the short court hearing.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Terence Forrest bailed Cox to an Ingle Farm address.

He will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in July.
