A northern suburbs man trusted to teach primary school aged children around the state for nearly 15 years has been arrested for alleged child grooming and possessing child exploitation material.
On Friday, SA Police arrested former Mark Oliphant College teacher Clayton John Page, 57, and charged him with one count of communicating to make a child amenable to sexual activity, and one count of possessing child exploitation material.
He faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday where he was denied bail and remanded in custody.
No pleas have been entered.
Police allege that between May 1, 2022 and May 7, 2022, Page had been communicating with a child with the intention to make them amenable to sexual activity.
They further allege that between May 1 2022 and September 5 this year, he was in possession of child exploitation material, knowing of its pornographic nature.
According to his LinkedIn, Page began teaching at the Waikerie Primary School in 2008 before going on to teach students in years 5-7 at Melaleuca Primary, Murray Bridge North School and most recently Mark Oliphant College.
His profile also states he previously acted as a school counsellor.
Page will return to court again in January.
