CENTRAL United batsman Stewart Brading entered the new season determined to better his highest score of 60.

It took him half a session.

Brading, 15, blasted an unbeaten 205 for Elizabeth Vale's under-16s in a win over Eastern Park at Dwight Reserve late last month.

The knock, which included 23 fours and six sixes, helped his side to 2/363 in just 44 overs.

Brading, of Elizabeth North, passed his previous high score by the first drinks break and was on 143 with eight overs remaining in the innings.

The final session was a run blitz.

"It was pretty amazing coming off (the ground)," said Brading, who joined United when he was seven.

"I remember how tired I was from batting.

"When I came off for drinks I thought if I could keep powering through I'd be able to make quick runs and maybe make 150.

"But I didn't think I could make 200.

"When the ball was there to hit I just hit it hard and hoped for the best."

Brading, who also bowls leg-spin, attributes his feat to a hard preseason and improved concentration.

He hopes to continue that form in the grade competition, where he plays in Northern Districts' under-16 red team.

"Having a good start to the season helps and gives me a lot of confidence.

"Hopefully I should be able to get a lot more runs this season."
